Please give me some advice, as you know I lost Louis to cancer 5 1/2 months ago and am still hurting terribly. But over the weekend I have found a pea like lump on one of my other dogs. It is just on her head, a few centimetres from her eye. I can move it and it doesnt seem to bother her and we think it wasnt there the day before. I am beside myself with worry as she was a half sister to Louis. She is only 5 and half. Could it be a cyst, as it has appeared literally overnight? My husband is taking her to the vets tomorrow, but I can't sleep with worry,

Taking her to the vets tomorrow is obviously the best thing to do. In many cases when a lump appears that quickly it is either a cyst or an abscess. But abscesses are almost always bigger than pea-sized and usually cannot be moved around so yes, it is likely that it is a cyst and will turn out to be nothing to worry about too much. Obviously I can't see or feel it and often we need to do a needle aspirate of the lump and look at the cells to know what it is but for tonight I would try not to worry yourself. |

Took Saffy to the vets and they think it is fibrous tissue as they think she has knocked her head. The vet said she can't take an aspiration as it is too close to her eye, so she said if they did they would have to sedate her and she said if they have to sedate her, they may as well take it out. It is attached to the skin underneath not the bone. So we have decided to watch it for the next couple of weeks then decide to take it out or leave it.
