I drag myself through the day (with numerous breakdowns) until my son is in bed, then take sleeping tablets so that I don't have to face the night without her. Laney was a part of everything I do and now I don't know how to move on without her. I feel guilty that I'm not coping well and my husband is having to cope with his own grief as well as mine. The house feels empty, like all my joy died on that road with her |

It is understandable that you feel the way you do, Laney's death was a tragic accident and you are left with all sorts of feelings. I am here for you anytime you want to talk. Her little life was cut short and the suddenness and way it happened is heartbreaking. Talk about her ; share your feelings here ; we do know how you are feeling and the fact that you are not coping is understandable . don't feel guilty; take each day at a time. Love and Hugs Penny xx |

#951 - by Vermillion84 >> Tue Jan 5th, 2016 02:05 pm Hi Lisa. I just read your post, what an awful decision to have to make :-( I really do believe that you made the right decision. It sounds like she was suffering quite badly and you know that with cancer like that you don't just wake up feeling better the next day. It shows how much you love her that you put your own feelings àside and concentrated on what was best for her. It was December 15th that I lost Laney and im still struggling so I understand how much you miss her. Im lucky enough to have my husband and a son, I can't imagine going through this alone. Do you have any other pets? I know you wont want another dog but have you considered a kitten? They need such a different type of love and care that it might help you with your grief.
Anyway I just wanted you to know you're not alone. Xx |

#953 - by Bella 12-16-2015 >> Tue Jan 5th, 2016 03:48 pm Yes it was cancer that had been there for a while and just realizing that I saw some signs of it before then and just thought she was having a bad day due to her age, which is another reason for the guilt.
No I do not have other pets at home now and was a little easier before because I always had one there, but she was my last my baby and best friend. Very hard to have nothing to take care of now and have no reason to get out of bed earlier than usual.
Don't get me wrong I have my parents and sisters to talk to but I think they are tired of hearing now. I said I will not get another unless it falls in my lap and comes to me. I cannot got through the pain of having to make that decision again.
Yes , I thought of a cat, but i seem to get too attached and have the same thing over again.
I go to sleep with the thoughts that I will be with them all again someday.
Thank you so much for you caring response and if you need to talk I am here. Hard to go through it alone. |

#958 - by Vermillion84 >> Wed Jan 6th, 2016 08:42 am I know what you mean about getting attached but if you're anything like me (and it sounds like you are) I think you'll struggle having no pets so just keep it as a consideration. 1 bonus to cats is they tend to live longer. If you do consider it I would seriously think about having an indoor cat. I have 8 cats (I really am an animal person) and the older 2 are outdoors cats. I spend the whole time they're out worrying about them. Because of this I kept my other cats as indoor cats.
Iv got kind of a shrine to Laney, a big photo frame, wooden blocks that spell out LOVE, the bandana she used to wear xx |
