#47 - by Irene >> Mon Oct 10th, 2011 08:43 pm I am feeling really sad......Having had many losses in my personal life recently....my little gerbil's death today, just again magnifies all the pain....Shredder is our 3rd pet to die since April....First our guineapig, Dale in April, followed by another darling piggy, Buzzby ( in August) and today, little Shredder....
I'm just too heartsore yet to talk much about him....except to say that for such a tiny animal, he had an enormous, loving personality, and will leave a void in our home and our hearts, even though he was with us only a short 4yrs...
It was so sad to see yet another pet die from cancer....just can't say more...am hurting too much inside...

I won't write much, just to say that we are thinking of you at this on-going difficult time. It is amazing how you see the wonder in animals of different species - something that many people do not have the compassion and insight to do - and I am so sorry for the continued heartache. |

#51 - by Shailen >> Thu Oct 13th, 2011 09:01 pm Feeling for you Irene. It is such a tough balance between the love and pleasure we get from sharing our lives with them, and the knowledge that we are giving at least some animals a good and loving home when so many have such terrible lives, and the inevitable pain that comes in time. I guess in the end it is about striking a balance between the conflicting emotions so that you don't subject yourself to too much grief over your lifetime while also maximising the animals in your life. Where this balance lies is probably quite an individual personal thing. Hope you start to feel a little better soon. |
