#181 - by bengimarty >> Fri Mar 2nd, 2012 08:22 am Its nearly 8 weeks since my 16 year old collie Bengi was put to sleep in our back garden and buried here...and the numbness I felt in the first week or so has gone and it seems to hurt more than before. I pass photos of him in the house and see his face and my heart hurts. I feel guilty that I get on with normal things and am not crying all the time because he deserves me to be crying all the time. I know my other half must be getting fed up with it now. I have had some of his fur cast into a pendant and a keyring, I have a grave stone being engraved to go where he was buried and I have planted daffodils there. Every night when I go to bed and it falls silent my thoughts turn to him and I cry...I have a new puppy, also a rescue collie cross and a 13 year old rescue lab/collie cross....but I dont feel able to love properly anymore, there is a barrier around my heart. |

Bengi would not want you to be crying all the time and you really must not feel guilty about trying to get on with daily life. You must do that, if not for you then for the rest of your family - furry and otherwise. There is no doubt that this is what Bengi would have wanted. Give yourself time without feeling pressure to heal any quicker than is natural for you but also have faith that our furry friends have a way of breaking into and taking residence in even the most guarded heart. Have faith, remember what Bengi would have wanted and that he is with you always. |

I am sorry to hear of your sad loss. I am now 14 weeks on and miss my little boy Louis terribly. I too have 2 other dogs, but there is still a massive void without him. Even today when I was walking I thought he should be here, he was only 6 and I broke my heart crying! I am sure things at some point will be more bearable, just remember we all understand how you feel. And many of us are feeling the same as you. You are not alone. Love to you. Xxx |

I hope things have gotten better over the past 2 years.
You loved your dog because you have a good heart.
