I found my gorgeous cat Timmy dead in the garden a few days ago, so tragic. After taking his body to the vet, they think it was a heart attack. No marks on his body and seemed perfect not long before he passed. Anyone else experienced this sudden death experience while so young? |

Very sorry to hear about Timmy. As a vet who has specialised in Emergency and Critical Care for many years I can say that in my experience this is a rare occurrence. Timmy was very unlucky. Bless him.

I have his sister also, who is 1 year and 4 months old too. How long do you think I should leave it before I get another kitten?
For her sake I mean. Is 3 weeks ok do you think as a gap between them?
Very best wishes,
Patrick. |

I would agree that with the majority of poisons there are other signs beforehand.
In terms of getting another kitten, there are no hard and fast rules unfortunately. She may be happy about the new arrival but she also may not be. If she is grieving a new companion could help her. It may also make matters worse. So you would have to be prepared to accept that the kitten may not be able to stay.
Are you on Facebook? We have a private group where you can get more insights from like-minded pet carers about this and anything else. Their shared experience may help you at this time.
